We remarked last time around that Kill Team didn’t seem to have quite the traction we wanted to see from an events standpoint. ![]() Let’s run through the headlines: Kill Team Picked Up Steam in the Back Half of the Summer In that time we’ve picked up some new kill teams and an entirely new way to play. Last time around we looked at the results from the start of July through August 10 this time we’re picking up the time period between August 11 and this past weekend (9/26). Their sheer psychic might is a powerful weapon, raining warpfire while reality twists around their Rubric automata and Tzaangor thralls.September is basically in the books and with a new Dataslate out, it’s a good time to look back on the last month or so of events and see how the Kill Team meta is doing overall. The sorcerers of the Thousand Sons often gather together into a Warpcoven when their esoteric plans need a more focused touch. They’re given more independence than most of the Machine Cult’s cybernetic soldiers, as well as surveillance equipment to relentlessly track and find their targets. The Hunter Clade is a specialist Adeptus Mechanicus formation of Skitarii and Sicarians, assembled to secure valuable knowledge for their Tech-priest masters. They are super hard to kill and can’t even really take Critical Damage rolls, which is just super sweet. These followers of Nurgle can overwhelm enemies with incredibly tough Nightmare Hulks, shambling Gellerpox Mutants, and a swarm of gribbly minions. Their adversaries are the Gellerpox Infected, spawned from a techno-organic plague that seeps from corrupted warp drives. They have some seriously cool uniforms and with them being part of the crew, we expect you’ll be able to equip them quite well. Their Rogue Trader boss and her coterie of aides grant the Voidsman crew access to advanced technology and powerful support abilities – including covering fire from the ship itself. The Elucidian Starstriders are the original shipborne kill team, battling the dangers of the void long before those whippersnappers from the Imperial Navy showed up. Each places forces from Warhammer 40,000 into Kill Team in exciting new ways, including special operatives not previously available to their factions. Kill Team: Annual 2022 also brings back four teams from White Dwarf – the Hunter Clade, Warpcoven, Wyrmblade, and Void-dancers. It’s always nice to have everything in one place, but since you’ll have to spend money on it, there better be some new rules! The Elucidian Starstriders and the Gellerpox Infected are cool old teams, so it’s nice to see them get a revamp with all new rules! Chief among these are the Elucidian Starstriders and the Gellerpox Infected – two factions from the Kill Team of yore – both of which receive full, up-to-date rules, and return to the shelves as standalone sets. This 152-page tome is the essential companion for Kill Team, collecting rules and background previously published in White Dwarf magazine and adding brand-new missions and operatives.
